How to measure your Casement Windows

Measuring is easy and takes a couple of minutes. You'll need a tape measure which shows millimetres, a pen or pencil and preferably a notepad.

The Design

Show opening 'vents' by using an arrow with the point denoting the hinged side, as shown below. Casement openings can be hinged on the top or either side, designs should be viewed from the outside.

The Measurements

  1. Measure the brickwork - not your existing frame.
  2. Measure from the top of the external brickwork to the bottom (below the external Cill if present).
  3. Write the sizes down, as you wont remember them!
  4. You may need to remove render on the outside to get your measurements.

Measure in several places, record the smallest size for the width and height.

For the window above the brick to brick measurement would be 1060w by 1060h

Deduct 10mm from your sizes.

The finished size to order would be 1050w by 1050h
